How To Uninstall xfaces On Debian 9

To uninstall xfaces just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just xfaces

Displays an image for each piece of mail in your mailboxDebian 9.0mail3.3-29+b1
sudo apt-get remove xfaces

This will remove just the xfaces package itself.

Uninstall xfaces and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xfaces

This will remove the xfaces package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for xfaces then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge xfaces

Or similarly, like this xfaces

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xfaces
