How To Uninstall xinetd On Debian 9

To uninstall xinetd just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just xinetd

replacement for inetd with many enhancementsDebian 9.0net1:2.3.15-7
sudo apt-get remove xinetd

This will remove just the xinetd package itself.

Uninstall xinetd and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xinetd

This will remove the xinetd package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for xinetd then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge xinetd

Or similarly, like this xinetd

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xinetd
