How To Uninstall java-common On Debian 7

To uninstall java-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just java-common

Base of all Java packagesDebian 7.0java0.47
sudo apt-get remove java-common

This will remove just the java-common package itself.

Uninstall java-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove java-common

This will remove the java-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for java-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge java-common

Or similarly, like this java-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove java-common
