How To Uninstall libapt-pkg4.12 On Debian 7

To uninstall libapt-pkg4.12 just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just libapt-pkg4.12

package managment runtime libraryDebian 7.0libs0.9.7.9+deb7u7
sudo apt-get remove libapt-pkg4.12

This will remove just the libapt-pkg4.12 package itself.

Uninstall libapt-pkg4.12 and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove libapt-pkg4.12

This will remove the libapt-pkg4.12 package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for libapt-pkg4.12 then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge libapt-pkg4.12

Or similarly, like this libapt-pkg4.12

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove libapt-pkg4.12
