How To Uninstall locate On Debian 7

To uninstall locate just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just locate

maintain and query an index of a directory treeDebian 7.0utils4.4.2-4
sudo apt-get remove locate

This will remove just the locate package itself.

Uninstall locate and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove locate

This will remove the locate package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for locate then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge locate

Or similarly, like this locate

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove locate
