How To Uninstall tomcat6-common On Debian 7

To uninstall tomcat6-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just tomcat6-common

Servlet and JSP engine -- common filesDebian 7.0java6.0.45+dfsg-1~deb7u1
sudo apt-get remove tomcat6-common

This will remove just the tomcat6-common package itself.

Uninstall tomcat6-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tomcat6-common

This will remove the tomcat6-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for tomcat6-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge tomcat6-common

Or similarly, like this tomcat6-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tomcat6-common
