To uninstall xfonts-intl-phonetic just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just xfonts-intl-phonetic

international fonts for X - International Phonetic Alphabet You will need these fonts if you plan to view, print, or author documents using the International Phonetic Alphabet. sudo apt-get remove xfonts-intl-phonetic

This will remove just the xfonts-intl-phonetic package itself.

Uninstall xfonts-intl-phonetic and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xfonts-intl-phonetic

This will remove the xfonts-intl-phonetic package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for xfonts-intl-phonetic then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge xfonts-intl-phonetic

Or similarly, like this xfonts-intl-phonetic

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xfonts-intl-phonetic
