How To Uninstall gedit-common On Linux Mint 17

To uninstall gedit-common just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just gedit-common

official text editor of the GNOME desktop environment (support files) extending this basic functionality with other features not usually found in simple text editors.Linux Mint 17gnome2.30.5+qiana
sudo apt-get remove gedit-common

This will remove just the gedit-common package itself.

Uninstall gedit-common and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove gedit-common

This will remove the gedit-common package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for gedit-common then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge gedit-common

Or similarly, like this gedit-common

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove gedit-common
