How To Uninstall mlocate On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall mlocate just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mlocate

quickly find files on the filesystem based on their nameUbuntu 14.04 LTSutils0.26-1ubuntu1
sudo apt-get remove mlocate

This will remove just the mlocate package itself.

Uninstall mlocate and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mlocate

This will remove the mlocate package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mlocate then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mlocate

Or similarly, like this mlocate

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mlocate
