How To Uninstall mysql-client On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall mysql-client just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mysql-client

MySQL database client (metapackage depending on the latest version)Ubuntu 14.04 LTSdatabase5.5.35+dfsg-1ubuntu1
sudo apt-get remove mysql-client

This will remove just the mysql-client package itself.

Uninstall mysql-client and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mysql-client

This will remove the mysql-client package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mysql-client then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mysql-client

Or similarly, like this mysql-client

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mysql-client
