How To Uninstall mailutils On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall mailutils just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mailutils

GNU mailutils utilities for handling mailUbuntu 14.04 LTSuniverse/mail1:2.99.98-1.1
sudo apt-get remove mailutils

This will remove just the mailutils package itself.

Uninstall mailutils and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mailutils

This will remove the mailutils package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mailutils then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mailutils

Or similarly, like this mailutils

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mailutils
