How To Uninstall mediascanner On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall mediascanner just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mediascanner

Media scanner packageUbuntu 14.04 LTSuniverse/utils0.3.93+14.04.20131024.1-0ubuntu1
sudo apt-get remove mediascanner

This will remove just the mediascanner package itself.

Uninstall mediascanner and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mediascanner

This will remove the mediascanner package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mediascanner then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mediascanner

Or similarly, like this mediascanner

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mediascanner
