How To Uninstall mercurial On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

To uninstall mercurial just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just mercurial

easy-to-use, scalable distributed version control systemUbuntu 14.04 LTSuniverse/devel2.8.2-1ubuntu1
sudo apt-get remove mercurial

This will remove just the mercurial package itself.

Uninstall mercurial and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove mercurial

This will remove the mercurial package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for mercurial then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge mercurial

Or similarly, like this mercurial

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove mercurial
