How To Uninstall thunderbird On Ubuntu 16.10

To uninstall thunderbird just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just thunderbird

Email, RSS and newsgroup client with integrated spam filterUbuntu 16.10mail1:45.3.0+build1-0ubuntu4
sudo apt-get remove thunderbird

This will remove just the thunderbird package itself.

Uninstall thunderbird and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove thunderbird

This will remove the thunderbird package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for thunderbird then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge thunderbird

Or similarly, like this thunderbird

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove thunderbird
