How To Uninstall emacs-nox On Ubuntu 16.10

To uninstall emacs-nox just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just emacs-nox

linuxGNU Emacs editor (metapackage, without X support)universe/editors46.1
sudo apt-get remove emacs-nox

This will remove just the emacs-nox package itself.

Uninstall emacs-nox and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove emacs-nox

This will remove the emacs-nox package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for emacs-nox then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge emacs-nox

Or similarly, like this emacs-nox

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove emacs-nox
