How To Uninstall r-recommended On Ubuntu 16.10

To uninstall r-recommended just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just r-recommended

GNU R collection of recommended packages [metapackage]Ubuntu 16.10universe/math3.3.1-1build1
sudo apt-get remove r-recommended

This will remove just the r-recommended package itself.

Uninstall r-recommended and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove r-recommended

This will remove the r-recommended package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for r-recommended then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge r-recommended

Or similarly, like this r-recommended

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove r-recommended
