How To Uninstall rails On Ubuntu 16.10

To uninstall rails just follow these instructions.

Uninstall just rails

MVC ruby based framework geared for web application development (metapackage)Ubuntu 16.10universe/web2:4.2.7.1-1
sudo apt-get remove rails

This will remove just the rails package itself.

Uninstall rails and its dependencies

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rails

This will remove the rails package and any other dependant packages which are no longer needed.

Purging your config/data too

If you also want to delete your local/config files for rails then this will work.

 Caution! Purged config/data can not be restored by reinstalling the package.
sudo apt-get purge rails

Or similarly, like this rails

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rails
